Hayes was right at the top of the Flyers instagram to wish Coots a happy birthday.
Man I wish I liked him as much everyone else. It’s like Kevin Hart, judge Judy, Shia LaBeouf and Gene Simmons. These people have many fans, I’m just not one of them. |

I loved that we had a streak of different fourth line tough guys for along time, every season. PJ Stock, Sandy McCarthy, Craig Berube (I wanna day second stint) and my favorite Gino! |

Bill,
Jay OBrien still hasn’t played a game yet this season since BU’s start has been delayed once again. At best he is not going to play more than about 20 games if even if everything goes right. It seems like another lost year for him. Since he’ll be 22 at the start of next season do you see him in the AHL at that point? |

I think he still needs to prove himself in the NCAA first; short season or not. Last year wasn't a lost year, although he dropped a level of competition. He needed it to get himself mentally back on track. |

Hayes has grown on me after seeing just how much of a glue guy he is off the ice. He's kinda got that Hartsy thing going, where he makes sure everybody on the team feels like they belong, even if they're a rookie or a just a call-up.
That intangible makes his contract a bit less odious to me, but I still think he needs to consistently provide more on the ice for what he's being paid.
We need that playoffs Kevin Hayes for the entire regular season. |

Thanks Bill! I agree with last year. I was thinking more of the year at Providence as a lost year. Hopefully he gets a shot to show something against players his own age. |

That was needed since Simmer left. Most will bring up his cap hit. But the whole free agent thing and then pandemic. I understand what you’re saying.
He was on track to have a career year points wise on a new team. Was familiar with the system so that was a bonus. Each year he seems to have progressed. Yes that will stop sooner or later. I know it’s not his style but just wished he was a crushing hitter.
I do think he will do a little better then plateau for a few seasons. His last season everyone will be losing it about his contract.

Do you dislike his personality or him as a player? - ClaudeFather
It’s kind of a long winded answer. Take Kevin Hart. Everyone loves Kevin Hart. He seems like a good dude. Everyone thinks he’s funny. I don’t.
With Kevin Hayes, I would say his personality bugs me more than his play. I grew up watching Brett Hull, Jeremy Roenick and Chris Pronger as being outspoken and cocky players but they deserved that right. They’re hall of fame players who can back up their play. Even Scott Hartnell who isn’t hall of fame but a great compliment to any top line. Hayes on the other hand is a second or third line center I’m hearing too much of. He’s not even on the same level as a Mike Richards, Michal Handzus or Keith Primeau. I’m sure he’s a good guy, just not the guy I wanna hear from. Plus he’s has a weird mono tone in his voice.
With this said, he’s a better player than I expected. He just doesn’t excite me the way he excites others on this board. |

A few of Kevin Harts earlier stand ups were good but he is one of the folks the media decides to jam down our throats (a less successful media attempt would be Amy Schumer, HORRIBLE). I see what you’re saying but Hayes goes about it a much different way than those guys, he’s keeping it light for the team not being the ra ra guy. There are different type of leaders and I think Hayes is one of those niche guys that really keeps a room together. He had a good year on the ice and an even better playoffs. |

Another benefit though, well not for you. He has the camera in his face as the big new signing. Big media market I’m sure some of the guys don’t mind at all. Actually makes me wonder how many time g or coots have been asked and gave the same responses over the years.
No one was as good as pronger, his wit was priceless. Felt bad for some of the Richards interviews. And as for coaches. Berube was great after games. One word answers or the shoulder shrugs. |

Your explanation of Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer is perfectly said. I don’t like OK talent being shoved down my throat. I didn’t realize this until now. |

Pronger was definitely the best. Liked Roenick and Hartnell too. Ray Emery believe it or not had a couple good post game interviews. |
